If you would like to know more about choosing a major or how the major you have chosen might relate to employment following graduation, the Academic and Career Advising Center can help. They also help you find internship opportunities, meet and network with local employers, build your resume, and provide support in your career or graduate school search. All UWSP students have access to our career platform to search for internship and employment opportunities. UW-Stevens Point offers twenty-one (21) varsity sports, all of which are affiliated with the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division III. Men’s sports include football, cross country, wrestling, ice hockey, basketball, swimming and diving, indoor and outdoor track and field, and baseball. Women’s sports include soccer, cross country, ice hockey, volleyball, basketball, swimming and diving, tennis, indoor and outdoor track and field, softball, and golf. Continuing Education and Outreach is the regional center of lifelong learning and professional development at the Stevens Point, Marshfield and Wausau campuses. The three locations offer programs and services for individuals and organizations in business and industry, education, government, and for individuals seeking personal enrichment in arts and leisure. As a regional outreach provider, Continuing Education and Outreach provides business counseling, certificate programs, conferences, conference and event planning services, customized trainings, educational travel, online degrees, summer camps, and an array of personal enrichment non-credit professional/talent development opportunities delivered both virtually and in-person. CE facilitates the following programs and services:
Conference Planning: Services include planning and administering professional development conferences or workshops from initial planning to final wrap-up.
Continuing Education Units: CEUs are offered through Continuing Education and Outreach for professional development programs.
Customized Training and Talent Development Programming: Customized trainings, workshops, and non-credit and graduate certificates designed to meet non-profit, government, and business and industry needs. Certificate programming offer in-depth training for leadership, management and inclusive excellence.
Community Programming: The offices in Stevens Point, Marshfield and Wausau offer general interest programming in the arts, theater, music and a myriad of personal interests. This programming is a touchpoint for the residents with the campuses and enhances the quality of life in the community.
Online Collaborative Degree and Certificate Programs: Fully online, semester-based programs at both the undergraduate and graduate level taught in partnership with various University of Wisconsin campuses through UW Extended Campus. They offer quality education for personal and professional development of returning adult and/or graduate students.
Learning for Older Adults: The Learning is Forever program (LIFE) is a membership-based program for adult learners, providing an opportunity to share experiences, promote intellectual and cultural enrichment, and encourage lifelong learning.
Small Business Development Center (SBDC): Provides no cost, confidential advising and resources as well as fee-based workshops/conferences to both startup and existing businesses throughout nine counties - Adams, Langlade, Lincoln, Marathon, Oneida, Portage, Vilas, Waupaca, and Wood.
Youth Camps: Opportunities for students in grades 5 - 12 to explore a variety of topics both virtually and in-person.
Travel: Includes Adventure Tours and Multi-day Cultural Excursions: Take a few days to experience and enjoy the food, people and places you will visit with us; Weekend Retreat: Step out of your everyday and escape with us for a weekend retreat to revitalize yourself; Daycation: Experience a day trip away from the ordinary. Trips leave from all three campuses.
UWSP - STEAM Point Days: STEAM is an approach to learning that uses science, technology, engineering, the arts, and mathematics through hands-on workshops and activities. These one-day conferences, presented by UW-Stevens Point faculty, staff and professionals in various fields, are designed for 7th and 8th grade experiential learners.
Dean of Students
The Office of the Dean of Students works with students, faculty, and staff to provide resources, assistance, and care. The Dean of Students staff works collaboratively with several departments to coordinate the care and case management process for students in need, as well as oversee the University’s student conduct process to ensure student success and promote a thriving learning environment for all.
As a student at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point, the Dean of Students staff are here to support your overall success. We also expect that you make decisions in line with all university guidelines, rules, and policies. If your actions conflict with the welfare and integrity of UW-Stevens Point or disregard the rights of other members of the university community, including guests and visitors to the university, you may face student conduct disciplinary proceedings as outlined in UWSP Chapters 14, 17, and/or 18.
The conduct process is intended to be educational and provide an opportunity for growth, development, and reflection. Degree Progress Report
A Degree Progress Report (DPR) is an advising tool that evaluates your progress toward meeting your graduation requirements at UW-Stevens Point. Access to this document is available to both students and academic advisers through accesSPoint. The DPR is for internal use and for information purposes only. It in no way substitutes for regular meetings and guidance from your academic adviser.
A DPR provides detailed information on how completed courses at UW-Stevens Point and/or other institutions are applied toward degree requirements at UW-Stevens Point and identifies any requirements that remain incomplete. The DPR also includes a major GPA, a UW-Stevens Point GPA, and an overall GPA comprising of both UW-Stevens Point and transfer course credits. For information on how repeated courses grades are calculated and reported, see the Repeating Courses policy.
Every attempt has been made to keep your degree and program requirements up to date. If you have questions or detect discrepancies on the report, please direct questions or concerns as follows:

NOTE: The DPR is not a transcript. A transcript is an official, certified copy of your academic records that shows a complete history of all courses attempted at UW-Stevens Point, including grades received, academic standing, degrees earned, majors, minors, and certificates. A transcript reports courses in semester order and your semester and cumulative grade point averages (GPA’s) are shown after each term. Unlike the DPR, courses repeated at another institution will not replace a grade on your UW-Stevens Point transcript or be used to recalculate the cumulative grade point average on your transcript. The Office of International Education (OIE) is home to International Student & Scholar Services (ISSS) and Study Abroad/National Student Exchange (SA/NSE). Our mission is to help lead the university’s development of global awareness, promote international and intercultural understanding, and enrich the academic and co-curricular environment of UWSP by facilitating the exchange of people and ideas.
ISSS provides comprehensive and longitudinal support to UWSP’s international students and exchange program participants. We assist our constituents to be productive and contributing members of the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point community while encouraging campus and community utilization of the vast cultural resources embodied in the university’s international student population. To these ends, we strive for excellence in providing international students and visiting scholars with immigration services as well as dedicated academic & co-curricular advising.
Study abroad can help you complete general education and major program requirements without lengthening your time to degree. Foreign language skills are not a prerequisite for participation in many programs, and you may apply federal and state financial aid to all Office of International Education programs.
You can earn 12-17 UW-Stevens Point credits during a semester abroad and 3 credits during a short-term program.
UW-Stevens Point currently offers semester programs in Australia, Britain, France, Germany, Hungary, Ireland, New Zealand, Poland, and Spain. Summer, Winterim and spring break programs feature varying locations and themes such as art history in China and Japan, tropical ecology in Costa Rica, and international resource management in Belize/Mexico, business internships in China, theater studies in London, music history in Austria and Germany, and architecture and design in Greece, Italy, and France. Internships are available in London year-round.
We encourage you to plan ahead and apply early. Your academic adviser can help you set up a long-term course schedule that will combine study abroad with efficient completion of degree requirements. National Student Exchange Program
Text Rental
The primary textbook usage at UW-Stevens Point is through Textbook Rental, a self-supporting service financed through student text rental fees. The Text Rental service is available to undergraduate students and is similar to a library system, where you check out most of your course books and return them at end of the semester. (The rental fee is included in the undergraduate tuition.) A UW-Stevens Point PointCard I.D. is required to check books out and in. (UW-Stevens Point has been operating a “text rental” service since its beginning in 1894.) Additional supplemental books and materials for courses are generally “purchase” items for students; i.e. study guides, workbooks, consumable items, etc.
Transcripts
Your transcript is an official, certified copy of your academic record at UW-Stevens Point. It shows all the courses that you have attempted; all credits, grades, and degrees you have earned; and whether you have been placed on academic or non-academic suspension.
You may order copies of your transcript online through the Office of the Registrar (www.uwsp.edu/regrec/Pages/WebHelp/transcriptInfoRequests.aspx). In order to receive a transcript or diploma, you must have paid all your financial obligations to UW-Stevens Point.

With a staff of professional academic coaches and over 120 peer tutors, peer coaches, tech trainers, and writing consultants, the University College Tutoring-Learning Center (TLC) offers academic support to UWSP students across all disciplines. Each academic year, the TLC records thousands of visits with nearly 35% of the student body, from first-year students to graduate students. TLC services promote the four pillars of University College by engaging, connecting, collaborating with, and supporting students. TLC services are at no additional cost to UWSP students.
TLC Programs and Services
Academic Coaching. Learners meet with a professional academic success coach either one-on-one or through small group workshops to set goals, improve time management, and hone student success skills. Learners can find focused study spaces with professional and peer academic coaching support available at the TLC Study Hub in DUC 205 on the Stevens Point Campus or at the TLC Study Hubs in the Marshfield and Wausau campus libraries.
Courses
- Academic Success Courses. In these one-credit courses (PSL 104 , PSL 105 ) you learn about and employ skills for success in college and life.
- English ‘57 Series. In these one-credit independent writing courses (ENGL 157 , ENGL 257 , and ENGL 357 ), you explore various kinds of writing in one-on-one sessions with peer writing consultants. You may repeat the courses for up to three credits.
- Reading in the Disciplines Program (RID). Selected university courses with challenging readings offer a one-credit discussion section (PSL 109 ) led by a peer teaching assistant. RID groups are scheduled at the request of the course instructor.
Join the Pack Program: This summer bridge program for transfer students includes a summer transition experience and near-peer mentoring during the fall semester. The program focuses on developing leadership skills, the empowerment of participants, and discovery about oneself and others.
STEM Tutoring: Trained peer tutors help you practice problems, deepen your understanding of course material, and assist you in preparing for exams. Tutoring is available for many courses, including accounting, biology, chemistry, computing, economics, geography, geology, math, natural resources, and physics. Services are offered as individual tutoring, group tutoring (for selected classes), or drop-in tutoring (in the Drop-in STEM Tutoring Center in CBB 190).
Tech Essentials: Tech trainers work individually with you to develop computing and software skills essential to college success.
World Languages Tutoring: Trained peer language consultants can help you develop your speaking, reading, and writing skills in languages through practice sessions. Language support is offered for all UWSP world languages, including Chinese, French, German, Japanese, Russian, Spanish, and French. Current enrollment in a UWSP language course is not required, provided you have some prior experience with the language.
Writing Center: Trained peer writing consultants meet one-on-one to read and discuss essays, research papers, lab reports, or any type of writing assignment for any class, in addition to tutoring for social science and humanities courses. Writing consultants also assist with resumes, cover letters, and graduate school personal statements. Services are offered in-person or online (through the Online Writing Lab - OWL).
