Description:
History of South Africa from the pre-colonial to the post-colonial period. Sheds light on many aspects of African history, including the origins of agriculture and domestication of animals, iron working, slavery and the slave trade, colonialism, institutionalized racism, and the excitement and frustration that came with independence. Focus on changes and continuities, economic development, labor migration, health and disease, apartheid, and resistance to colonial domination.
