GEOL 170 - Disasters - Living on the Edge Description: Study of various environmental hazards, their causes, impacts on humans, and mitigations. Core topics include: earthquakes, volcanoes, flooding, landslides, tornadoes, hurricanes, climate change/global warming, nuclear hazards, and overpopulation. Additional topics may include: coastal hazards, environmental pollution, extreme weather, impacts from space, extinctions, biohazards, chemical hazards, and terrorism. May not earn credit in both GEOL 170 and GEOG 170 .
