HIST 286 - War and American Society Description: Investigation of the impact of wars on American society. Wars from the earliest European colonization through the wars of the early 21st century may be included. The home front will be emphasized, with attention to wartime politics and economy, civil liberties, the experience of non-combatants, and the larger social effects of war.
