Business Administration

Admission to the Business Administration Major

You must apply for admission to the Business Administration major before you complete 18 credits toward the major. You must be admitted to the business administration major to register for some upper-level courses and to graduate with a business administration major.

Once you are accepted as a business administration major, you can receive specialized, one-on-one advising from the school faculty or staff.

Minimum requirements: We encourage you to apply as soon as you have completed at least 10 credits toward the major.

If you are a transfer student: Apply before you complete 18 credits in the business administration major OR during your first semester at UW-Stevens Point.

Exceptions: If you wish to request consideration of exceptional circumstances, do so in writing to the SBE Admissions Committee.

Academic Standards for Business Administration

To graduate with a major or minor in business administration, successfully complete all required courses in the major or minor and achieve a cumulative grade point average of 2.5 or higher in all your major/minor courses. Finance

Admission to the Finance Major

You must apply for admission to the Finance major before you complete 18 credits toward the major. You must be admitted to the finance major to register for some upper-level courses and to graduate with a finance major.

The School of Business and Economics offers an MBA in Applied Leadership and Decision-Making. The 36 credit program can be completed on a full-time basis in one year, and in two years on a part-time schedule.

Admission to the Program - Business Graduate

Admission to UW-Stevens Point M.B.A. in Applied Leadership and Decision Making  is open to those who have completed an undergraduate program at an accredited U.S. college or its equivalent in another country. 

To be admitted to the MBA in Applied Leadership and Decision Making you need to:

  • Apply for graduate study at UW-Stevens Point by submitting:
    • Submitting a UWSP Graduate Student Application
    • Paying an application fee
    • Submitting official transcripts
  • Apply to the MBA in the School of Business and Economics by:
    • Completing a School of Business and Economics MBA application
    • Submitting official or unofficial transcripts
    • Submitting scores for the GMAT or GRE examination or completing a waiver request
    • Submitting a resume
    • Writing a letter of intent
    • Requesting recommendations

The Admission Committee bases its decision on:

  • GPA: A bachelor’s degree completed with a satisfactory GPA.
  • Transcripts: Official college transcripts.
  • Examination: A satisfactory score on the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) or the Graduate Record Exam (GRE). Applicants may request that the graduate admission test be waived.
  • Recommendations: Two recommendations from a current or past employer, professor or professional colleague.
  • Resume and Letter of Intent: A personal resume and letter of intent, including background qualifications, professional development, and career goals.
  • Business Literacy: Evidence of business literacy demonstrated through professional experience or business coursework. 

Applicants may request that the graduate admission test requirement (GMAT or GRE) be waived. Applicants must submit this request in writing to the Admission Committee before admission.
