Definition: Psychology is the scientific study of the mind and behavior. It examines the biological, cognitive, emotional, social, cultural, and environmental processes underlying human and animal behavior in order to enhance psychological knowledge and its application within a variety of settings (such as families, schools, clinics, and workplaces).

Academic Standards for Psychology Major

To be approved for graduation with a major in psychology, you need a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.25 in all courses taken in psychology, regardless of a declaration of academic forgiveness.

Credit-by-Exam Policy for Psychology

An Advanced Placement (AP) Psychology Exam score of 3 or higher gives you credit for PSYC 110 . Credit-by-exam is available for PSYC 110  and PSYC 260  if you receive a score that is equal to or greater than the 50th percentile on the General Psychology and Developmental Psychology CLEP examinations. CLEP testing is done in the Testing Center in Delzell Hall.
