Consists of 30 credits.

Language and Literature

Take 15 credits of language and literature at the 300 and 400 levels.

Culture Studies

Take 15 credits of culture studies, including 6 credits of:

GERM 481 - German Culture and Civilization (formerly 381) 3 cr.

Collateral Courses

Take 9 credits in coursework outside the department, selected with adviser approval.

Communication in the Major

Six credits from:

GERM 340 - Introduction to German Literature 3 cr.
and
one of the following designated courses:
GERM 345 - Advanced Conversation and Composition (formerly 317) 3 cr.
GERM 355 - German for the Professions (formerly 318) 3 cr.
GERM 420 - Phonetics and Phonology (formerly 320) 3 cr.
GERM 460 - 19th Century Literature (formerly 360) 3 cr.
GERM 470 - 20th Century Literature (formerly 370) 3 cr.
GERM 481 - German Culture and Civilization (formerly 381) 3 cr.

Capstone Experience

GERM 495 - Capstone Seminar in Studies in German 3 cr. or
GERM 499 - Independent Study 1-4 cr.
