Economics: Business Economics Option, B.S.

This major is administered through the School of Business and Economics .

 

In the economics major, you complete courses in core economic content and methodology, as well as courses in basic mathematical techniques and advanced economic statistics. Upon completing the economics major, you will be prepared to work in economics and the business world.

Successfully complete a minimum of 69-71 credits with a cumulative GPA of 2.50 or higher. Completing the requirements below will satisfy the Communication in the Major and Capstone Experience requirements.

Core, 48-50 credits


In general, try to complete the core classes in approximately this sequence. The courses near the beginning of the list serve as prerequisites for courses near the end of the list.

Note


If you plan to pursue graduate work in economics, we advise you to take MATH 120  and MATH 121  in place of MATH 109 .

Statistics, 3-4 credits


Note


Classes you take as part of the electives below may satisfy this requirement.

Communication in the Major, 6 credits

Capstone Experience, 3 credits

Economics Electives, 9 credits


Complete 9 credits in additional economics courses, NOT including ECON 100 . Note that BUS 352  & BUS 353  both count as economic electives.
