Music Performance: String instrument, B.M.

This major is administered by the Department of Music .

 

Admitted by audition only. Your performance proficiency will be reviewed at the end of your freshman year for permission to continue. In your first semester, with your applied teacher’s approval, you may audition to enter the performance degree program in the second semester of the freshman year. You must complete MUS 246  or Level 100 of applied piano and complete the 400 level of study in your major instrument. You must perform a half recital in your junior year in your major instrument and give a senior recital. The senior recital (MUS 463  - MUS 466 ) satisfies the Capstone Experience requirement

Applied music, 28 credits


Note


Take MUS 379  to satisfy 2 credits  toward the Communication in the Major requirement.

Note


Placement exam required. If insufficient background, MUS 109  is prereq.

String pedagogy, 2 credits


Large ensemble, 12 credits

Your capstone experience will be a senior recital, which will occur as part of your 400-level applied study in one of the following courses:
