Please note - As of April 24, 2015, this program is not currently accepting new students. However, students interested in coaching are encouraged to pursue the Coaching Certificate .

This minor is administered by the School of Education .

Consists of 20 credits:

Required

COAC 190 - Foundations of Coaching and Leadership 3 cr.
COAC 200 - Scientific Concepts in Sport and Activity 3 cr.
COAC 372 - The Psychology of Sport and Leadership 3 cr.
COAC 373 - Seminar: Topics in Sports and Leadership 2 cr.
COAC 398 - Practicum Experience in Sport Leadership 3cr.
PHED 362 - Optimal Performance in Sport and Activity 2 cr.
PHED 391 - Organization and Administration of Physical Education and Athletics 3 cr.

Electives

At least two credits from elective courses:

COAC 373 - Seminar: Topics in Sports and Leadership 2 cr. (with different subtitle)
HS 375 - Kinesiology 3 cr.
PHED 360 - Exercise Physiology Concepts for the Physical Education Teacher 3 cr.
PHED 410 - Essentials for Strength and Conditioning 3 cr.
FN 450 - Sports Nutrition for Fitness and Athletic Performance 3 cr.
