This teacher certification is administered by the Department of English .

Broadfield Language Arts Teacher Certification:

Consists of the teacher certification requirements for literature/composition, plus 16 credits:

Journalism, 3 credits

COMM 221 - Basic Journalism: Newswriting and Reporting 3 cr.

Communication, 3 credits

COMM 394 - Business and Professional Communication 3 cr.

Theatre Appreciation, 3 credits

THEA 105 - Theatre Appreciation 3 cr.

English, 3 credits

ENGL 349 - Editing and Publishing 3 cr. or
ENGL 549 - Editing and Publishing 3 cr.

Note

For students seeking Broadfield certification, ENGL 349 will not count for the writing requirement in line 1, English Major for Teacher Certification .

English Education Field Experience, 4 credits

ENED 395 - Broadfield Language Arts Field Experience 2 cr.

Note

This two-credit class must be taken twice, once with each of the two subtitles under which it is offered (speech/theatre or journalism).
