Health Science Education Certificate

The Health Science Education Certificate is awarded upon successful completion of a series of courses that center on competence and proficiency in teaching health science courses at the middle or high school level. The certificate demonstrates expertise in health science topics and curricular foundations and prepares you to educate middle and high school students in the health science career cluster and related pathways.

This certificate is administered by the School of Health Promotion and Human Development .

Consists of 16-17 credits.

Required Coursework:

EDUC 337 - Techniques in Secondary Education-Science 3 cr. or
FCS 396 - Cooperative Occupational Education Programs 1 cr. and
HD 397 - Field Work 1-12 cr. (take 1 credit)
FCS 394 - Principles of Career and Technical Education 2 cr.
HS 100 - Introduction to Health Professions 3 cr.
HS 295 - Medical Terminology 3 cr.
PHIL 302 - Ethics and Medicine 3 cr.

Take one of the following:

HPW 290 - Psychological Aspects of Health 3 cr.
PSYC 385 - Health Psychology 3 cr.
REL 307 - Religion and Health 3 cr.
