Captive Wildlife Minor

This minor is administered by the Wildlife Ecology Discipline.

The minor is open to majors in the College of Natural Resources or Biology. Students with majors in other areas must first meet with the coordinator for the captive wildlife minor to be considered.

You must complete BIOL 130 and BIOL 160 (or BIOL 101 if majoring in Resource Management: Environmental Education and Interpretation, B.S. or Resource Management: Wildlife Education, B.S. ) prior to admittance.
You must declare and be admitted to the minor before completion of 70 credit hours toward graduation.

Consists of at least 30 credits.

BIOL 333 - General Microbiology 4 cr. or
BIOL 362 - Animal Parasitology 4 cr.
BIOL 381 - Animal Physiology 4 cr.
NRES 458 - Biodiversity and Conservation Biology 3 cr. or
WLDL 458 - Wildlife Ecology and Conservation Biology 3 cr.
PHIL 360 - Animal Ethics 3 cr.
WLDL 321 - Principles of Captive Wildlife Management 2 cr.
WLDL 322 - Techniques of Captive Wildlife Management 2 cr.
WLDL 355 - Wildlife Diseases 2 cr.

Internship

3 credits from WLDL 382 involving captive wildlife with prior approval of internship coordinator.

WLDL 450 - Human Dimensions of Wildlife 3 cr.

Note

To be admitted to the minor and to graduate with a minor in captive wildlife you must have 2.25 minimum cumulative grade point average.
