Required Program Components

Develop an approved program of study in conjunction with your assigned graduate adviser and submit to the SOE Office of Graduate and Innovative Programs.
Earn 30 credits in graduate courses. Fifteen of these credits must be at the 700 level.
Core courses - 12 credits
Research course - 3 credits
Elective courses - 15 credits
Complete a thesis or comprehensive portfolio prior to applying for graduation.

Note

Teaching licensure can be integrated into the Master of Sciences in Education for qualifying candidates.

Culminating Experience

Thesis Option: The thesis can be qualitative or quantitative research. It requires an oral proposal with your lead thesis adviser, a written thesis, and an oral final defense. You may repeat enrollment in EDUC 799 (Thesis) each semester in which you are involved in your thesis, until the 6-credit requirement is completed.

Comprehensive Portfolio Option: If you elect to not complete a thesis, you will be required to complete a comprehensive portfolio developed throughout the program. You will be provided with portfolio guidelines.
