This major is administered through the School of Design & Communication . If you are interested in declaring a Media Studies major, you should enroll in MSTU 1 .

Consists of a minimum of 43 credits in Media Studies courses.

Upper-level requirement, 18 credits

Eighteen credits must be in courses numbered 300 or above.

Media Studies Core, 13-18 credits

Required, 12 credits

Internship or Externship, 1-6 credits

You must also complete an internship or externship:

MSTU 480 - Internship in Media Studies 1-12 cr.
MSTU 485 - Externship in Media Studies - London 6 cr.

Quantitative and Social Science Methods, 6-7 credits

Choose one of the following two course sequences:

BUS 330 - Principles of Marketing 3 cr.
BUS 333 - eMarketing 3 cr.
COMM 201 - Communication Research 3 cr.
COMM 391 - Persuasion 3 cr.
MATH 109 - Mathematics for the Social and Management Sciences 4 cr.
MATH 367 - Mathematics of Decision and Choice 3 cr.
NRES 150 - People, Resources and the Biosphere 3 cr.
NRES 320 - Natural Resources Communication and Public Relations 3 cr.
PSYC 110 - Introduction to Psychology 3 cr.
PSYC 300 - Statistics for Psychologists 4 cr.
SOC 101 - Introduction to Sociology 3 cr.
SOC 351 - Social Statistics 4 cr.

Area Requirements 24 credits

15 credits must be 300-level or higher; minimum 6 credits from each area:
