Program Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of the Elementary Education Program, you will be able to:

  1. Demonstrate integration of professionalism using the School of Education Professional Education Program Teacher Candidate Disposition Rubric
  2. Complete the Formative Assessment with narrative demonstrating proficiencies in assessment administration, alignment of educational standards to assessment, data collection, interpretation of data and evaluation and synthesis of data to inform future instruction and pedagogical approaches
  3. Construct a comprehensive, integrated unit plan in science consisting of five or more lesson plans. You will use the School of Education Lesson Plan Template that demonstrates understanding of the planning and instructional methodologies developmentally appropriate, content and inquiry robust with measurable learning outcomes for the science topic selected. Areas of emphasis include: Enduring Understandings, Essential Questions, Content Standards, Learning Outcomes, Lesson Procedures and Assessment. A weighted scale rubric is used to evaluate successful completion of program learning outcomes (PLO)
  4. Write a Language Arts lesson plan that shows your ability to identify a clear learning target aligned to standards, explicitly model learning target and gradually release responsibility of the task to students, differentiate for diverse learning needs, plan assessment to match the learning target
  5. Plan and deliver a Social Studies Content Area Lesson to peers. Lesson planning and delivering should evidence the Understanding by Design planning process, content knowledge, differentiation strategies, and ability to manage learning environments
