This certificate is administered by the area of Health Sciences and Wellness in the School of Health Sciences and Wellness .

The Health Science Education Certificate is awarded upon successful completion of a series of courses that center on competence and proficiency in teaching health science courses at the middle or high school level. The certificate demonstrates expertise in health science topics and curricular foundations and prepares you to educate middle and high school students in the health science career cluster and related pathways.

Consists of a minimum of 14 credits.

Required Coursework:

EDUC 337 - Techniques in Secondary Education-Science Credits: 3 or
FCS 190 - Developing Human Services Professionals Credits: 3 and
FCS 396 - Cooperative Occupational Education Programs Credits: 1 and
FCS 397 - Field Work Credits: 1-12 (take 1 credit)
FCS 394 - Principles of Career and Technical Education Credits: 2
HSW 104 - Medical Terminology Credits: 3
PHIL 302 - Ethics and Medicine Credits: 3

Take one of the following:

HSW 290 - Psychological Aspects of Health Credits: 3
PSYC 385 - Health Psychology Credits: 3
