Geospatial Sciences, BS


This major is administered by the Department of Geography and Geology .

Program Learning Outcomes

As a graduate of the Geospatial Sciences B.S. you will be able to:

  1. Explain environmental processes and the resulting geographic patterns of climate, landforms, water, and life
  2. Utilize appropriate methodologies for solving geographic research and conducting geospatial problems
  3. Explain the development and spatial distribution of human cultural activities along with their relationship to environmental factors
  4. Read, interpret, and analyze spatial information from thematic and reference maps
  5. Explain the procedural elements in creating a map and create a reference or thematic map of a chosen spatial phenomenon


Consists of at least 41-42 credits depending on the classes selected. Additional credits will be needed to complete a required minor of choice.

Note: Required courses marked ** below have Math prerequisites. Depending on your placement score, additional courses may be required.

To complete this major, you must also complete a minor. any minor offered at UW-Stevens Point is acceptable, but it must be approved by your major adviser. Recommended minors include: Earth Science Minor , Environmental Geography Minor , Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and Spatial Analysis Minor , Urban Planning and Geodesign Minor , Computer Information Systems Minor , and Web Development Minor .
