This major is administered by the Human Dimensions of Natural Resource Management  Discipline.

Program Learning Outcomes

As a graduate of a Resource Management Program, you will be able to:  

  1. Effectively communicate with your public(s)
  2. Demonstrate environmental awareness/literacy
  3. Exhibit professional development skills relevant to your particular major option
  4. Read, interpret, and analyze social science research in natural resource management
  5. Explain the role of leadership, administration, and evaluation for natural resource agencies and organizations
  6. Develop confidence in the knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to perform as a professional in your chosen option within Human Dimensions of Natural Resource Management.


Consists of 96-98 credits.

Note: Required courses marked ** below have Math prerequisites. Depending on your placement score, additional courses may be required.

Sophomore/Junior Experiential, 3-4 credits


Foundational Sustainability Studies, 45 credits


Take at least 2 courses from each of the following four categories (economic, environment, social, institutional/governance). The remaining credits can be taken from any category. Courses taken as part of the core do not count in the foundational category.
