Program Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of the Biochemistry program, you will be able to:
- Describe the foundational principles of physics, chemistry and biology related to the molecular dynamics of living organisms
- Describe the flow and balance of energy in biological system, including metabolic pathways across multiple levels of complexity within an organism
- Apply the concepts of the transfer of information from nucleic acids to protein and their phenotypic expression (i.e., the central dogma of biology) and its impact on society
- Demonstrate skills in biochemical and molecular biology laboratory techniques and apply theory to analyze results
- Critically evaluate and synthesize biochemical information from multiple sources, including the primary scientific literature, and communicate scientific knowledge to both professional and non-professional audiences.
Consists of a minimum of 82 total credits (77 credits if taking CHEM 117 ).
