Program Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of the Biochemistry program, you will be able to:

  1. Describe the foundational principles of physics, chemistry and biology related to the molecular dynamics of living organisms
  2. Describe the flow and balance of energy in biological system, including metabolic pathways across multiple levels of complexity within an organism
  3. Apply the concepts of the transfer of information from nucleic acids to protein and their phenotypic expression (i.e., the central dogma of biology) and its impact on society
  4. Demonstrate skills in biochemical and molecular biology laboratory techniques and apply theory to analyze results
  5. Critically evaluate and synthesize biochemical information from multiple sources, including the primary scientific literature, and communicate scientific knowledge to both professional and non-professional audiences.
     

Consists of a minimum of 82 total credits (77 credits if taking CHEM 117 ).
