This major is administered by the area of Theatre in the School of Performing Arts .
Choose this option if you wish to pursue intensive training in design/technology in order to become a theatre professional.
Program Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of the BFA Theatre Design and Technology Program, you will be able to:
- Demonstrate a significant knowledge of conventions, historical and contemporary perspectives, common vocabulary, and cultural practices in theatre and dance production.
- Analyze plays (scripts/libretto/choreographer’s statement/director’s notes) perceptively and evaluate critically to inform creative work
- Communicate design ideas through 2-D drawing, drafting and rendering (including CAD), 3-D modeling/sampling and through verbal, aural, and written presentations.
- Employ the Design Process and utilize elements and principles of design to achieve and communicate desired intentions
- Contribute to the creation of theatrical production by employing discipline-specific skills and technologies while cultivating a personal approach to artistry.
Consists of 78 credits.
