Academic Affairs Committee

Individual instructors will communicate course‑specific attendance requirements at the beginning of each term through the course syllabus, including how it affects grades.

Students are expected to attend all scheduled class meetings. Students who will be absent from class are expected to notify the instructor in advance when possible. Students participating in authorized university‑sponsored off‑campus activities—such as athletics, musical/dramatic organizations, or academic field experiences—must make arrangements in advance with each affected instructor. When absences occur due to authorized activities, emergencies, illness, or similar circumstances, instructors will provide a reasonable opportunity to complete the missed coursework. In the event of an emergency, and the instructor cannot be reached, students should contact the Dean of Students Office, 212 Main, Phone: (715)‑346‑2611, Email: DOS@uwsp.edu.

During the first ten days of a regular 16‑week term, instructors will take attendance. Students who do not attend during this period may be administratively withdrawn from the course; however, administrative withdrawals for non‑attendance are not automatic. Students are responsible for withdrawing from courses they no longer plan to attend. If a student who is administratively withdrawn from a class wants to re-add the class, the student must re-register in accesSPoint, if the class remains open. Re-enrollment is not guaranteed.

Students who choose to withdraw from a class must do so through accesSPoint. Changes in enrollment may affect tuition and fees, financial aid eligibility, athletic eligibility, and veterans’ educational benefits.

Students who enroll in a course but cannot begin attending until after the first class meeting must obtain permission from the instructor of the course. Without approval, the student may be required to withdraw from the course.
