This major is administered by the Department of Music .
Admitted by audition only. Your performance proficiency will be reviewed at the end of your freshman year for permission to continue. In your first semester, with your applied teacher’s approval, you may audition to enter the performance degree program in the second semester of the freshman year. You must perform a half recital in your junior year and a full recital in your senior year. You must complete the 400 level of study. The senior recital (MUS 460 ) satisfies the Capstone Experience requirement

Note
Take MUS 460 to satisfy 4 credits toward Communication in the Major requirement.

Take MUS 379 to satisfy 2 credits toward the Communication in the Major requirement.

Placement exam required. If insufficient background, MUS 109 is prerequisite.
Music literature and history, 18 credits
Piano pedagogy, 2 credits
Required ensemble, 9 credits
7 credits from large ensembles (1 credit per semester) and 1 credit each from MUS 328 and MUS 429 . One credit from MUS 328 taken in lieu of large ensemble upon course offering. (See Note 3 .)
