This major is administered by the area of Health Sciences and Wellness in the School of Health Sciences and Wellness .
Program Learning Outcomes
As a graduate of the Health Promotion and Wellness, BS you will be able to:
- Explain how best practices are developed based on the existing body of research evidence
- Develop and evaluate effective health and human development programs
- Describe the importance of community involvement in local programs, organizations and events
- Recognize personal biases and explain the value of multiple perspectives and suspending judgment when interacting with others
- Demonstrate confidence and competence in a professional setting
Consists of a minimum of 83 credits.

Premajor requirements, 38-43 credits
These courses may be taken before being “fully” accepted as an HPW major.
Note
You must earn a “C-” or better in these courses.
Major requirements, 45 credits
Note
If you are not “fully” accepted into the major, you will not be allowed to take 300 and 400-level HPW courses.
HPW 110 and HPW 450 are offered as pass/fail only. You must maintain a 2.50 cumulative GPA through graduation.
