This major is administered by the School of Business and Economics .
In the economics major, you complete courses in core economic content and methodology, as well as courses in basic mathematical techniques and advanced economic statistics. Upon completing the economics major, you will be prepared to work in economics and the business world.
Successfully complete a minimum of 42-44 credits with a cumulative GPA of 2.25 or higher. Completing the requirements below will satisfy the Communication in the Major and Capstone Experience requirements.

Complete BEFORE taking “core” courses.
Theoretical and institutional, 9 credits
Quantitative, 7-8 credits
Note
If you plan to pursue graduate work in economics, we advise you to take MATH 120 and MATH 121 in place of MATH 109 .
General electives, 9 credits
Choose from economics courses NOT including ECON 100 . Note that BUS 352 and BUS 353 both count as economics electives.
Communication in the Major
Note
This course also satisfies 3 credits of the Communication in the Major requirement.
