Environmental Studies Minor

This minor is a Multidisciplinary  minor.

Definition: Environmental Studies is a multi-disciplinary approach to studying the relationships between people and their environments. The minor is one of the oldest Environmental Studies programs in the nation. Students begin the minor with HIST 280 - American Environmental History , an examination of major environmental and social changes. Core courses, chosen to represent the many facets of sustainability, connect ecology, economy, and social justice. Students then choose electives with environmental dimensions from across the humanities and social sciences to explore specific topics in greater depth. A capstone, ENGL 392 - Literature and Ecology  pulls together the learning experience.

The Environmental Studies Minor satisfies the Interdisciplinary Studies GEP requirement. For more information, see the GEP  section of the Catalog.
