About this Program
Majoring in accounting positions you for a challenging career in a changing global business environment. As an accounting student you may desire to work in the accounting department of an organization in industry, or choose public accounting. You may take a position in public accounting firms providing tax, auditing, and consulting services to your clients. If employed by a corporation or non-profit organization, you may work as part of the management team involved in decision-making and tax analysis to provide reliable financial data.
If you desire to become a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), you must complete 150 credit hours of education to qualify to sit for the CPA exam. The additional credits may be either undergraduate or graduate credits.
In the accounting major, you complete courses in core accounting content and methodology, as well as courses in business and economics. Upon completing the accounting major, you will be prepared to work professionally in accounting and the business world.
