This graduate program is administered by the Sociology and Social Work department in the College of Letters and Science.

This program meets the educational requirements for standard MSW-level certification/licensure in the following states/territories:

Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, District of Columbia, Florida, Georgia, Guam, Hawaii, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, North Dakota, Northern Mariana Islands, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Puerto Rico, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Vermont, Virginia, Washington, West Virginia, Wisconsin, and Wyoming.

This program does not meet the educational requirements for standard MSW-level certification/licensure in the following states, since they do not certify/license at the standard MSW-level and/or have specific coursework requirements that must be met:

American Samoa, California, Federated States of Micronesia, Florida, Michigan, New Hampshire, Republic of Palau, and Republic of the Marshall Islands.

Consists of 33 or 64 credits.

Note: Students without a bachelor’s degree in social work from a CSWE-accredited institution begin with the foundation year and complete the entire degree program for a total of 64-66 credits. Students awarded a bachelor’s degree in social work from a CSWE-accredited institution within the last 7 years bypass the foundation year and complete only the advanced year for a total of 33-35 credits.
